Advocacy and Reflection
REFLECTIONS

“You’re
supposed to be changing the world, not changing diapers”. This advocacy focuses
on telling the teenagers to focus on their future of making their lives and the
world a better place, instead of focusing on things that should be done only
when you are married. Bearing a child is not an easy task for adults, and it
would be more difficult to bear when we’re at a very early age to even have
children.
Teens are supposed to be stressed
out in school, studying for upcoming exams and passing projects before the
deadline, instead of stressing out in home, taking care of your child, making
money to buy for the baby’s milk, and changing the diapers.
There are many risks in getting
pregnant at such an early age, and even more sacrifices and regrets that we
would bear in the future if we choose the path of motherhood before success in
education. This is why we must be aware of the consequences before we make this
kind of decisions.

For some
time, teenage pregnancy has become a national issue here in the Philippines.
The population continued to grow and the production became unstoppable. The
teens’
lack of exposure to this issue has been regarded by the government but it is
still not enough. We still have to impose and emphasize the causes and effects
of teenage pregnancy, letting us take action to leave this knowledge to the
teens, opening their minds to and use it for proper living.
Young mothers who’re victims
of this issue lacked exposure and education to the issue, just as I said at the
first paragraph. Possibly, the parents’ absent-mindedness that caused
their horrific fate is one of the reasons.
Schools only offer education about the vital sex organs of a male and
female, how masturbation and ejaculation works, the process, development and
relationship of egg cell and sperm cell and other science lessons about human
life. These types of issues are only pushed to the teens’ minds
during important meetings, counselling and seminars.
The importance of knowing the
threats and effects of teenage pregnancy is to be implemented in a much more
effective way that’ll
make the information retain in their minds and in their hearts. We’ll have to
remember that we’re
supposed to change the world, not changing diapers at early age.

Our country
is facing different issues and problems, one of these is teenage pregnancy. Our
group decided to pick this issue since this issue is getting worse year by
year. Each year the number of the young ladies that gets pregnant is increasing
and the age is getting younger. There are different reasons why teenagers get
pregnant early but whatever the reason is, this issue is still a very serious
problem. This problem greatly affects its victim mentally, emotionally, and
socially. The young lady who bares the child will face a great depression and
mood swings because the child inside the womb affects the hormones of its
mother. Whoever the victim is one thing is sure, this problem will affect her
future. Because of the baby inside the womb the young lady will not be able to
go to school for months and there is no guarantee that she will really go back
because if the shame she felt, causing for her to not finish her studies and not
get a decent job.
Our advocacy 'You are supposed to be
changing the world not changing diapers' is aiming to be an eye opener for the
teenagers to focus first to their studies. The present world is hoping that our
generation will be the change of this world. They want to see us succeed in our
future and start changing the world. Our advocacy wants to tell the teenagers
that we should be dreaming ti be successful and not to be a young parent. We
also want them to realize that being a mother is so much harder then being a
student. Being a teenager our responsibilites are be a good student and children
to our teachers and parents, and of course focus on giving ourselves a very
bright future.

Teenage pregnancy
here, teenage pregnancy there. No, I think this problem is everywhere. Thats
why our group decided to have an advocacy concerning this old yet still growing
issue on the society. As students we can also see the changes of society's
state then and now. And I might say its getting worse by the minute. Being
relatively close to the subject matter, we can easy understand the mind set of
the subject matter.
"You're
supposed to be changing the world, not changing diapers" is our advocacy
against teenage pregnancy. That concerns the number of teenage mothers and its
effects on the society, may it be directly or not. This advocacy helps to open
the minds of the youth, and that they may be able to change before they lead
down to that path.
All of this effort can be conserve and can be put to another good use if the individuals in our target audience is responsible enough to see the right and wrong. And mature enough to listen to the advice. Though there are factors that may cause the subject to lead such problem like poor parenting, type of environment, and mental stability.
